Dell
unveils a Windows 8 triple threat with a new tablet, ultrabook and all-in-one
PC
The Dell
Latitude 10 tablet
Dell has
unveiled three new products for a workforce it says is ‘evolving’, which really
means ‘migrating to Windows 8’. To help Microsoft’s new platform along the way,
Dell is introducing its first enterprise-class ultrabook, a new all-in-one
desktop PC, plus a 10-inch tablet.
Latitude 10
Starting
with the smallest of the bunch, the Latitude 10 is a tablet specifically aimed
at the business user, focusing on productivity and security. Optimised for the
Windows 8 touch interface, the Latitude 10 comes with Dell Data
Protection|Encryption, which encrypts all data from the hard drive to the USB
port, plus a fingerprint reader and smart card reader for effective two-factor
authentication. It also features a removable battery, which will be useful for
added power and repairability.
Latitude 6430u
Moving on, the Latitude 6430u 14-inch ultrabook
is 33pc slimmer and 16pc lighter than the current-generation 14-inch Latitude.
It’s also durable, having stood up to military-standard testing, and battery
testing gives it all-day productivity from a single charge.
Data
protection is again at the heart of Dell’s business devices, and this laptop
also comes with Dell Data Protection|Encryption, plus Intel vPro Technology for
manageability.
OptiPlex 9010 All-in-One
Finally,
the OptiPlex 9010 All-in-One desktop PC incorporates touch interface for
Windows 8 with a multi-point touchscreen. It also comes with a fixed or
rotating camera, and an articulated stand.
The Latitude 10, Latitude 6430u and OptiPlex 9010 AIO will be available when Windows 8 is released on 26 October. Pricing information is not yet available.
